Who’s the Levity for and what can you do with the Levity?

We are often asked “Who is the Levity for?” or “What can you do with the Levity”.

We’ve developed detailed guides available on the Levity/Resources section, but here are some key points:

Who’s the Levity for?

Levity (Ora Medical)
Levity (Ora Medical)

The Levity is designed for children (height: 76-142 cm / 2’6”-4’8”; weight: 11.3-45.3 kg / 25-100 lbs) with walking disabilities due to conditions such as cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, spina bifida, or other neuromuscular or developmental disorders. It can support children who experience challenges with balance, muscle strength, motor control or endurance.

Precautions:

Extra care should be taken with children who cannot stand even when supported, have severe seizures or conditions making harness use unsafe. A trial session under the supervision of healthcare professionals is always recommended.

What can you do with the Levity?

So many things! The Levity is more than just a walking device, it provides support for part of the body weight while standing, squatting, walking and playing! Here are some examples:

Standing:

  • Play at a table: blocks, puzzle, drawing

  • Upper body stretching exercises or weight shift exercises

Squatting:

  • Perfom squats

  • Pick objects from the wall or mirror and stick them at different height

  • Build a tower with foam blocks, starting from the floor and stack it as high as possible - then knock it down!

Walking:

  • Take a long walk

  • Walk while carrying a basket and collect small toys

  • Move around with a doll to “take care” of her

Playing:

  • Dance! Dance and Freeze when the music stops!

  • Play with a ball using hands and/or feet (vary the ball, change the direction of the play)

  • Play bean bag toss

  • Hit a baseball of a tee (T-ball)

If the height of the child allows it, you can use a balance board or a vibration plate in combination with the Levity. If you do so, constant supervision is needed to ensure the child's safety.

What do users do with the Levity?

The Levity is being used by children, parents and therapists in so many creative ways. People come up with various activities - walking, playing, climbing a step, squatting, dancing, boxing, upper body stretching, even putting for minigolf… the possibilities are endless!

And you, what do you do with the Levity?
